Have you looked at the editor and had no idea what to do? There are lots of options for creating your maps, but not all need to be utilized. There is a difference between creative and absurdly difficult. Too many materials, along with random platforms and items can erase a map. Here's a guide on how to weave your way through the options and utilize your map's potential.

Index
1 - Options in the Map Editor
1.1 - Selector
1.2 - Grounds
1.2.1 - Normal
1.2.2 - Ice
1.2.3 - Trampoline
1.2.4 - Lava
1.2.5 - Chocolate
1.3 - Mice Stuff
1.4 - Shaman Objects
1.4.1 - Red Nails
1.4.2 - Green Nails
1.4.3 - Yellow Nails
1.5 - Map Settings
1.6 - Save / Load / Test

This is what you will see when you enter the Map Editor. You can see that there are five things that you can select, and we will go in-depth through all of them.

1 - Options in the Map Editor

1.1 - Selector

This will allow you to select items. You can move them around and edit properties of certain items, which will be explained later.

1.2 - Grounds

Grounds are what the mice will walk across and land on. There are five different ground types in all. You are allowed 20 different pieces of ground.

1.2.1 - Normal

This is the normal type of ground. This has no special properties whatsoever. It has normal friction, and if a mouse stops running, they will come to a natural stop. This ground is possible to wall jump on.

1.2.2 - Ice

This type of ground does what it sounds like it would do; there is no friction. When a mouse stops running, they will continue to slide until acted upon an outside force. Mice are able to change direction by running the opposite way, so you can still grip the ground. This ground is impossible to wall jump on.

1.2.3 - Trampoline

This ground is bouncy. If a mouse comes in contact with this ground, they will bounce away from it. It can be used to get to heights not normally available to mice. If there is a trampoline floor and roof, mice are able to get up to blindingly fast speeds. This ground is impossible to wall jump on.

1.2.4 - Lava

This ground propels all mice that touch it very far away. It can be used to launch mice or items. This type of ground is very annoying when not used properly, so do not use it if you are not sure what you're doing. This ground is impossible to wall jump on.

1.2.5 - Chocolate

This ground is sticky. You cannot efficiently run across it, so one much jump across the ground. If someone doesn't know how to wall jump, this is an easy ground to do that on. If someone runs against the wall, they will stick to it. They can take all the time they want to wall jump up. Those that do know how to wall jump will generally go slower on this type of ground.

1.3 - Mice Stuff

These things are required for all maps. You are allowed to determine where mice will spawn, where they will get their cheese, and where the hole is. Placing the shaman is not necessary unless you want them to have a different spawn placement than the mice. You will always have a shaman.

1.4 - Shaman Objects

Though there are lots of items, this is a fairly simple option. These are things that the shaman would normally be able to spawn. There are nails (anchors) as well, which I will explain to you.

1.4.1 - Red Nails

These nails are World Anchors. They are stuck into the wall. They will not move from that position.

1.4.2 - Green Nails

These nails are Free Anchors, allowing rotation around the point of connection.

1.4.3 - Yellow Nails

These nails are Solid Anchors. They do not change the angle of the items, but it doesn't keep them connected against the wall like a red nail.

1.5 - Map Settings

Map Settings give you extra effects for different kinds of maps. There are three kinds of maps - Night, Collision, and Soul Mate - that you can choose. You are also given the chance to add wind and gravity. Wind pushes you to a certain side, and gravity can be made weaker or stronger. 10 is the normal number for gravity.

1.6 - Save / Load / Test

Once you've finished your map, it's time to validate it. Your shaman should be able to make it through the map. The mice don't have to make it, but people will vote your map down if they can't get the cheese. Be sure to make it a fair map for the mice.

To stop your maps being deleted make it either really easy, a noob trap or a deathslide.
Everyone enjoys watching 3 lone mice trapped behind a wall shouting noob sham and help.
Nobody enjoys having to walljump for half a minutes THEN a cornerjump THEN you have wait for the sham to spirit you.
